Mt. Kenya Hiking
Having 5,199m (17058) ft above the sea level, it’s the highest mountain in the whole country, yet comes second on the African level. It’s also among the largest free standing volcanic mountains.
The adventures which you shouldn’t miss out are; glaciers, valleys, the snow capped peaks, thick forests covering the slopes.
This mountain is just 20km from the Equator.

The mountain has three major peaks; Nelion at 5188 meters, Batian at 5,199 meters and Lenana at 4985 meters.
Batian and Nelion are high for those who are not used to mountain climbing, while Lenana can be reached by any fit trekker.
Putting that aside, it is well endowed with animal and plant life, with unique ecology diversity which forced those in authority to declare it as a National Park and an International Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
The rainforest, bamboo thickets on the lower slopes are home to wildlife species like Leopard, Albino zebra, Antelope, Black and white Colobus monkeys, Sykes monkeys, Bush pig, Hyena, Elephants and Buffaloes.
The Kikuyu are the native residents of this place and refer to it as a home to Ngai their god.
