Taita and Chyulu hills are some of the youngest volcanic mountains in the world.
There is a belief that Chyulu hills have lasted for only 500 years.

These hills have a wide range of thrilling lakes and water falls and provide breath-taking views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and scenic surroundings below.
These hills not only have thick canopies of vegetation cover, but are also well known for their rare wildlife and birds. This has made these hills to be hunted for by nature lovers as well as bird watchers.
They also have excellent conditions for adventuring and hiking in addition to being easily reachable.
Dabida, Sagalla and Kasigu are the 3 groups of hills located on Taita hills and cover as area of 1000 sq km, which form the Northern most part of the Eastern Arc Mountains.

Taita Hills rise from 1350m and a maximum elevation of 2228m on Wurian Peak and provide the most enchanting and glamorous mountain scenery in Kenya.
A tiny house of sanctuary with animal species like lions, elephants, cheetahs, buffaloes as well as the extremely rare Taita Falcon, is located on the Taita Hill.
Sipe and Chala are the two nearby enchanting lakes offering a stunning view of
Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Chyulu Hills have a lot of ash cones and craters. These are not composed of permanent waters, but when it rains, water passes through soft rocks and joins the permanent fresh water sources namely Mzima Springs and Tsavo River.
Chyulu still has it’s natural vegetation, with wildlife such as cheetahs and elephants. This has so happened due to the hill being one of the areas, which have not been encroached on by man.

You can get to Mt. Kilimanjaro through six different routes, each with it’s own level of difficulty.
The most famous route to go to the summit is the Marangu track.
